What is the routine you follow every day and are you happy with it?

What do you do when you wake up? How do you finish your day? Do you have the same meal every day? The same tea? Walk the same path?

We follow the flow of our day’s current and wash ashore at the end without a full recollection of having experienced it.Every single day we dance a similar routine through 24 hour blocks, Every day is a dress rehearsal and we’re slightly tweaking it to account for the weather, new appointments, and errands. It can be so familiar that you’re doing things without realizing it. I’ve heard stories of people driving home and questioning whether or not they stopped at a stop sign, activated their house alarm, or closed the front door. We do things so frequently and without reconsideration that before you are fully awake you’re already sitting on the toilet.

How can we slow down our routine and enjoy the process more? Not wanting to sleepwalk through life, I’ve been rethinking my routine and what makes up my days. Accepting that my days are filled with generally the same activities within them, how can I slow down enough to bring more awareness in? Where can I slow down and savor time for deep thought, a wake up song, or the last bite? Where can we dive into our tasks to make it more than rote, and more a sacred ritual?

What is your routine, and can we fill it with more rituals?

Calling on rituals over routine to me adds a sense of spirit to the same task. It feels more considered and fulfilling. Wanting more pause, I’ve been thinking of small tweaks to take my routine habits to cherished rituals.
For my purposes, I’m not talking about huge time consuming hour long tarot draws (though I do love doing that too). For this daily ritualized brainstorm, I’m thinking of folding in moments of pause during my stream of to-do lists.

Where am I implementing ritual into my spiritual journey?

Crystals are aesthetically pleasing and spiritually uplifting. The idea of different crystals having different purposes, and drawing in different energies or helping amplify certain aspects of your life speaks to me. In the same way that certain foods make me feel more bloated, satiated, quick-tempered, or hot, crystals can draw out certain elements in and around us. Being interested in them, I want to touch them and make them more apart of my daily life.

The easiest way for me to consider crystals every day was to clear a window shelf in my bathroom and line up my favorite crystals small enough for me to hold in my pocket. I’ve got tiny square ones, worry stones that have a thumb indent, and bracelets made of strung up miniature crystal beads. Now, every morning after I brush my teeth I’ll sit on my sink and consider which to pocket that day. Am I working on a business project that focusing on abundance and rubbing citrine could help me with? Am I thinking of scheduling a date night with my husband that I could pair with my rose quartz bracelet? Is today all about brainstorming blog ideas in my free time where drawing in the creative energy of carnelian would be a blessing? Now I pause and consider adding some crystal to my day as much as I consider my outfit. I used to just carry crystals in all of my purses and not consider it much after that initial storage. The idea of having one on me was all I thought I needed. Truly, this extra step of considering it every day and picking out the exact one that matched my attitude and goals for the day was joyful. It’s one of my favorite rituals of the day.

A special tarot draw is like a work of art. Another small change I made has to do with cherishing my tarot spreads. In the past, if I pulled a particular spread that spoke to me I would take a photo of it. But I never really looked back and savored them the way they deserved. Instead I’ve been soaking in a great draw’s energy by leaving them out nestled one of my tarot cloth on the side table for the week. They don’t have to live in boxes or be filed away right after a reading. I can reconsider it as I walk by the next day, or a week later. I’ll even lay out candles or crystals and have it grow naturally over time. It’s a living spread. One day I’ll walk by and add some clear quartz, or I’ll want to clarify the energy around the space and open up a window the night before a full moon. Sometimes I’ll just think about it over a tea and re-light the candle next to it.

Where could you enjoy more rituals in your life?

I love these ways of adding to my current habits or developing routines I’ve setup up to give my actions more consideration. Nothing has to be the way that it’s been done, or the same way that seems to work for everyone else. Take your time and own your flow. Enjoy your time with tarot and have fun with it.

Love and light y’all!
