Trying to connect to my natural rhythms and wanting to stay in the flow of what’s natural, easy and enjoyable I’ve been more and more interested in understanding how the moon effects me and my environment.

I recently heard two podcasts with Kate Northrup where she talked about doing less to achieve more. On Amy Porterfield’s interview one of the key takeways was,

“Both men and women have a cyclical experience of energy based on their hormones. Men, every 24 hours. Women every 28 days. The problem is, productivity and time management systems assume our lives are based on a 24-hour cycle and for 50% of the population this is not true. Both men and women have the ability to get just as much done but in slightly different ways and Kate explains how. ”

As a take-action woman, and someone who has read a lot of productivity articles and books this shook me. Ever feel sluggish about getting a certain activity done? Then a week later that same activity goes by easily and quickly and you’re not even sure why it took so long to start? That’s exactly how I felt when I needed to get my taxes done. I just couldn’t get started collecting, and filing, and processing, and so many things! But a few weeks later I just flowed through it all, and it wasn’t because of the looming deadline. I was a few months ahead of time this year! Looking back I think I just stumbled upon the right phase for focus. There are times that make deep thinking about future planning easy, and other times where it’s more ideal to take action now. I felt it in action, and we could all benefit from doing a few more things in the flow of life.

Her book not only describes these different phases, but also how to connect with each one and offers activities to implement her methodology of doing less to achieve more.

If you have to-do lists, work on different projects, or juggle your family’s schedules, this is a great active read.

Excited about her book and only having a basic knowledge of how the moon’s phases effect us all, I’ve wanted to take a deeper dive into how different aspects of our life are interconnected, and how I can utilize this knowledge to stay in the flow.

Here are some additional resources I’ve enjoyed and look forward to tracking:

I’m really excited to track my activity and moods in the moon journal and reflect on it in the upcoming months to see what patterns emerge. I’ll come back and share my thoughts. =)

This all brings me back to my hubby’s favorite quote,

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

-Mary Oliver

We all want to connect, be seen and make every moment count. Feeling in the flow will only optimize and emphasize all of that. I want to connect with y’all and learn from one another and grow, so thank you for being here!

Enjoy your journey.

Love and light,

Cathy
